His design solutions integrate context-appropriate aesthetics, modern technology, and ever-evolving programmatic and budgetary needs—delivering profound experiences for theater-goers and creating landmark projects for venue owners, many of which have worked with Gary for decades.
Gary is also noted for his longtime advocacy of design strategies that reduce each project’s environmental footprint, leading stakeholders and fellow professionals in unlocking the inherent social and economic power of cultural venues to heal urban neighborhoods and communities.

John is a lauded project manager who integrates disciplines to ensure design integrity while simultaneously maximizing project efficiency and budgets. His forte is developing superlative design solutions with complex budgetary, scheduling, and phasing requirements. John leverages his management and feasibility studies experience to ensure the seamless delivery of each project while reconciling the expectations of multiple stakeholder groups.
His 35+ years of experience includes designing and managing higher education facilities, libraries, K-12 schools, environmental education facilities, and a variety of other project types, and he leverages the lessons of these projects to his passion—performing arts spaces— which have been his focus for the past 18 years.
When not designing and executing performing arts venues for others, John can be found enjoying them firsthand, experiencing an opera, symphony, ballet, play, or concert.
